well hello williams and sonoma furniture…

And here we thought you were just overpriced kitchen gadgets.
Over the weekend I was talking with my girlfriend who I do some satellite decorating for. She’s stuck on a few dining chairs to complete the look of her oh so dreamy dining table, she was thinking about steel dining chairs for durability but eventually settled with wood. She found it on Craig’s list and its an old conference room table. Great story but more on that room later. I was explaining these chairs that I think have an outside chance of working. I happen to thumb through the Williams Sonoma catalogue yesterday and bam there they were…

I was just talking about you guys! These chairs have been a long time favorite of mine so I’m very happy to see them at the forefront a.k.a. everywhere. They’re versatile, handsome and over the years, the price has gone down too. Bonus. You can now find them in several color variations but I like this one best for me and darker for my friend.

Here they are in a honey color with a FAB looking bench. The table is indoor/outdoor. Don’t be afraid to mix it up with your seating. Use a backless bench (options are endless, everywhere and so good looking for pennies) in front for an unobstructed view of the setting with three chairs on the back side. Get crazy with the end chairs…two oversized wing backs or two small stools. Sky is the limit and when you mix, you’re not locked into a high price set. You can select and collect from everywhere.

The fabric on this bench is the answer to so many of my design dilemmas. It’s called French Stripe and I’m going to find out if it is available by the yard. Fingers crossed. I love the simplicity and chicness of it (is that a word?). The simple suiting stripe will mix with any decor and you’ll never tire of it. Hopefully.

Here is their farmhouse collection. Very nice and the chandelier is new and available too. I actually included this photo for the light and the floor tiles, the chairs really aren’t my style but have been around forever and owned/inherited by many. Update them with some plump pillows to cozy it up or paint them a modern pop of color.

I like the white much better.

Glad to see Williams and Sonoma jumping on the gray wicker train. These are indoor/outdoor and World Market sells them for $149 here. It has been on my to do list for months to stop in and check out the quality. I promise I will get there soon because I’d love a few for some other projects I’m working on.

The wicker chairs would look mighty nice around this rustic table. Impressive.

These new rooster prints caught my eye for a modern take on country.

And these gray willow hurricanes will make for some nice ambiance this Summer. Way to go Williams and Sonoma! Which got me thinking…many of your favorite stores and catalogues often offer so much more on line. Take Target for example and their great line of mail order furniture. Some pretty swanky stuff. Same goes for good ole Walmart as they continue to wow us and update their image. For example, check out this outdoor conversation set I spotted there recently for $298! I sat in them and they are rock solid and comfortable. Pardon the iphone photo.

I’m not a fan of the matchy matchy so lose the table and pillows to your next yard sale and replace with a pair of round garden stools, drum tables, trunk or a wicker ottoman. Grab some larger outdoor pillows with an updated pattern (Ballard Designs, Restoration Hardware, Homegoods and my friend Alicia’s pillows at Firmly Planted. Super fun!). Suddenly you’ve taken an inexpensive big box store look from blah blah to chic city.

At first glance this set is nothing special but it was the “x” motif that grabbed me as I meandered through wally world.

I could dedicate an entire post to the X. Another time. Happy Spring my friends! Soak it up!
