Somewhat.
As I was cruising through deciding what to keep and what to delete, it occurred to me some would make for inspirational subject matter and a few others, well just a slice of life over here on the other side of the blog. So here goes.
A client foyer I redesigned. New paint, floors, light, stools, sconces, dark doors and rug. Some day I’ll get back over there to show you the before and afters.
A fabric combo (I’m currently obsessed with the one on the bottom in every tone it comes in)
I’ll be using them to redesign this space…”the Christmas tree room”. The family has lived here for several years and its high time they made this into a luxe lounge for big people. 😉
We moved the rug and piano to the dining room and BONUS two restyled rooms for the price of one. I paired the candlesticks together on top of the piano, removed the square chandelier shades and will pull a pop of color from the rug to paint the piano bench.
I’d love an old piano just so I could paint it a high gloss color, and get matching d-piano-benches to pair with it. I recall a bright red one from Cottage Living years ago.
Making myself at home at IKEA to determine which frame shape the client will like better…
Ended up with the squares!
Contemplating this sectional from West Elm for my own purposes: more seating at the beach house.
And this Ralph Lauren wallpaper for inside the bunks.
Speaking of Ralph, a delicious room at his Lenox Mall location…
A design plan I shipped to Birmingham, Alabama. Next time maybe some color for the binder?
The view from their new front yard in Chelsea, Alabama! Check out the donkey looking right at us.
And while I was visiting, my sweet client was nice enough to drive me through the neighborhood of Mt. Laurel, very Serenbe-esque, because she noticed I’d pinned a few homes from there on Pinterest.
:-)))) This is a woman with seven kids and much more important things to do. I’d say her heart is rock solid gold.
You can follow her blog HERE. So, so blessed to meet families like hers thanks to Pinterest and the blogosphere.
Do I even need to pre-empt this next picture with a comment?
WHOA.
A tray I picked up for my client’s coffee table ottoman
And a sofa…
And lantern for another…
I love how the light shines in like so…
A favorite knob from Hobby Lobby…
A rare occurrence (this was actually a pic I’d sent my assistant. She’d been by earlier and could not see the floors).
Inspiration for the photo walls in our family room. I”m going to spray the few mismatched frames that luscious orange color, to mix with the black and white.
Still kicking myself I didn’t buy this desk (I like to torture myself and just keep talking about it). If not for me, than a client?! Dumass.
Speaking of…I about had heart palipatations when I came across the Alexandria chair, design by Suzanne Kasler for Hickory Chair…
HERE amongst all this crazy mess! I could of DIED. I ran that trixie right down stairs to ask the price only to find out it had been tagged by “a woman we are working with who does vintage rentals”. Hmmm that sounds awfully familiar. Low and behold it was my friend’s new business! And she wasn’t about to give it up. Do you blame her? Took me a half day to shake it off. 😉
This next picture, the pillows, like, for sure.
Designing a custom media cabinet that will have some of this gorgeous diamond detail on it…
How we make snow in the south?! My friend Jill is genius…dental floss and round white labels. So fun and whimsical. She also wraps her chandeliers in white tulle and it totally feels like snowy white Winter.
Speaking of Jill, some sconces I found against a reclaimed wood wall in her powder room…
I had a hard time parting with all four pretties, but the design process takes over. The vision we had for them in the first home she was building, it was just too good. I couldn’t not give em up (and regardless that’s what friends do). We settled on two in the home she renovated which means there is still two more up for grabs ;-)))
Remember beautiful Shannon and her beautiful home? Here’s an updated mantle vignette. The mercury cake plates and domes are new from Potterybarn. You know she’s going to stuff them with some sort of Easter goodness!
Another beautiful friend’s powder room faucet.
A light for my client’s mudroom. I LOVE this light! But your clients don’t always love things as much as you do and you just gotta suck it up and move on.
Couldn’t resist. My old high school wheels. The homegirls got a big kick out of it. Its by the grace of God we survived that stick shift (insert sounds of little four cylinder engine changing gears here, more like a moped motor maybe).
An exciting project beginning to take shape for J.Sho Design in 2013. Drove by today and they were putting the roof shingles on. I’m crazy for that roof line! After booking a roof inspection on a site like divisionkangaroof.com/areas-served/gainesville/, we had the go ahead for the new roof line. Before a roof inspection, there’s no point in doing any constructal work because you may come across various issues along the way but luckily, in this case, everything is working out as planned. Phew! I actually think we were lucky to not come across any problems concerning the roof because I honestly thought we would. Unfortunately, my friend did, and that’s why I was convinced the same thing would happen to us. But she managed to get her problem sorted just as quickly as it was detected, and with the help of a roof repair denver company in the area in which she lived, everything was as good as new. I’m glad. But I’m even more relieved that I don’t have to go through this process myself, and we can focus on moving forward with the project. All I can say is that this one is going to be a beauty my friends. The owners have mad taste and are doing all the right things.
A before
And restyled after. New black hardware coming soon.
Look out world…
Gotta love it when you slide in to pick up some furniture at the upholsterer and this beauty is just sitting there all shiny and pretty… “Its your Valentine’s present!”
The best ten dollar find ever…
Screwing around with the camera, trying to frame a shot. Key word tryin. I’m starting to think I may be obsessed with shooting sunlight???
I was taken by the words of artist Fernand Leger at an exhibit and how it relates to my business philosophy and blue-collar upbringing.
“Upon his return to France, Leger continued to explore those themes and concurrently developed a political interest in the working class, creating art that, he hoped, would be accessible to and understood by all.”
BEAUTIFUL DESIGN FOR ALL!
You’d think this next picture is all about the cute kids but you’d be mistaken…
I found this to be a very clever window box design. Window boxes are very high maintenance, however, this one looks pretty manageable.
Isn’t this a great print of the famous A la Piscine in France, which was recently featured in the Oscar winning movie “Life of Pi”. You can find this lovely poster in her red frame loveliness at our family cottage on Torch Lake, Michigan. Spotted and scored by my talented Mother-in-law.
A tasty budget red…
The old scoreboard in the old high school gym. Mom, the artist, designed the ram logo. Go rams!
One of many things I love about my parent’s 1928 home. This little area of tile by the front door. I’m pretty sure its Pewabic, which is indigenous to Detroit, so it makes sense.
Champagne for Duchesses (you know that’s right).
And we’re out of here! Hope you enjoyed this random photo post and picked up some good ideas along the way!
xx

Thanks for the linky love, friend! Happy to shuttle you around the ‘Ham any ol’ time. We’re on budget lock down here for the next few months so we can get started on the kitchen soon. Am READY to see it all come into place. And am also fantasizing about handing you the reigns for the living room. It’s still just not quite right in there. It needs some Vreeland Love. Soon, soon… 🙂
